Guide to Hand-Painted Special Effect Contact Lenses

The scariest, creepiest, and ghoulish theatrical special effect costume lenses have always been available in the film industry (and to regular if not slightly off-beat folks who ignore the expense and buy them anyway).

As you can see a few of these lenses are full scleral lenses, that is they cover both the iris and the whites of your eyes. They are also trickier to insert so follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer.

All these lenses are FDA approved and should last you several years if you follow the proper care and cleaning instructions.

So what about the cost? A pair of these hand painted lenses will run you between $200 and $400, depending on the design (scleral lenses cost more than conventional iris-only type lenses). They take about one week to create plus a few days for delivery.
